Re: Audible humming / ticking in fit-PC3
Is the power supply that generates the noise internal to the box? Or external? This may make a difference for some of us who can place the CPU unit where noise would be a problem. But can relocate the power supply part further away. Sorry for the confusion. There is an external power supply, but I ...

Re: Audible humming / ticking in fit-PC3
Yes, it sounds like the little ticks of laptop hard drive seeking, but unlike a laptop HD, it doesn't ever stop doing it. I understand that you consider this to be normal behaviour and that it doesn't affect the reliability which was certainly my initial concern, but if I can offer some customer fee...

Re: fit-PC3 pilot batch does not boot with some SSDs (solved
I tried a OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 60GB SSD in my Fit-PC3 LP, this drive uses the same Sandforce chip as the OCZ Vertex 2. I can boot off the drive, and the front LED doesn't flicker, but I do get the constant ticking sound described by Linuxshoppen. In other systems this drive is completely silent. ...

Re: Supported SSD drives (fit-PC3 LP pilot)
If there is a problem it doesn't seem to affect all OCZ models. I've an OCZ Vertex 3 120GB, VTX3-25SAT3-120G, in my pilot batch fit-PC3 LP. One of their SATA3 drives. Seems to be working without issue so far.

Re: VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0 Hypervisor
Well my Fit-PC3 LP arrived today and I tried out ESXi 5.0. I'm impressed, it actually installs and works perfectly without a hitch. VMWare detects the CPU as an AMD G-T40E Brazos with both cores available, the SATA3 controller and it's drives are detected fine, the ethernet port too, and 3.7GB of RA...

Re: Fit PC3 update please
Mine arrived in the country quickly (New Zealand), but since then has spent 4 days waiting for UPS to move it the last 100km or so to where I live. UPS and Fedex shipping always seems to be extra slow in these parts. Happened with my Fit-PC2 as well.

Re: Linux performance and AMD
I've not tried with a Fit-PC3 yet obviously, but the open source ATI driver for Linux is known to work with the HD 6320. The proprietary ATI driver does too. I tried Ubuntu 11.10 with a HD63 1 0 myself recently which I believe only differs from the HD63 2 0 in clock rate, and it performed very well ...

Re: VMware vSphere ESXi 5.0 Hypervisor
I've a copy of ESXi 5.0 around that I can try when my Fit-PC3 LP arrives. I'm planning to put Linux on mine, but I'll give ESXi a go beforehand and post what I find in this thread. I'd hazard a guess it'll be the SATA controller VMWare will have trouble with if anything. I've not had much luck runni...
