Nope its practically out in the open and the case just feel warm to touch, not hot.

Yes I'm aware of that. What I meant was I've tried a number of different video types, all of which seem to exhibit this issue. I then tried an MP3 file to see if ti was a hardware issue or something to do with the decoding.

Seems to be yes, however I've just tried an MP3 and it's fine....

Yes I've followed that guide and had no issues during the installation.
Do you have any other things I can try?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Really? So this means the HDD MUST always be spinning even if there is no activity? Seems quite a shame to waste that extra power unnecessarily.

Is there any way to disable these messages?

Hi, I have a fitPC2 running Ubuntu 10.04. The power options have been set to spin down the HDD when possible, however it never seems to do so. I can see from /var/log/messages there is a bunch of messages inserted into the log every 2 mins, for example: Jul 11 13:11:36 myfitpc kernel: [ 2594.158003]...
