Mini PCI-e

Can a SSD be installed in the mini PCi-e slot? If so, can you boot from it? Still on schedule to take orders on Nov. 15?

Thanks,

Re: Running Fit-pc2 24hrs a day as a background music player

My FitPC2 has been running for months and months 24/7 with no problems. I use it as a music server for a few Squeezeboxes. It boots from a 30GB OCZ SSD and the music resides on an external 2.5" usb powered drive.

Re: Taking fit-pc 2 to africa

Don't confuse SD with SSD. SSD drives mount in the internal 2.5" hard drive bay. In the states, 30GB or 32GB drives can be had for around $100. The advantages of SSD drives are no moving parts, very fast, greater tolerances to heat, and in most cases less power draw. The disadvantage is they are exp...

Can you give examples of Mini PCIe storage cards that use the USB interface internally. I would love to stick a 32GB in the PCIe slot and boot windows XP or 7 from it.

Re: WIFI disconnecting apparently at random

My wifi also has connection problems. Sometimes it works for hours and sometimes it drops the connection every few minutes. FITPC2 is located about 3 feet from the wireless router. It got so annoying, I switched to hardwired networking. I'm contemplating swapping the internal WIFI adapter with an in...

Re: Fit-PC2 1,1GHz as AV media server?

There have been a few reports of heat failures attributed to improper attachment of the CPU to the case. Most of the time CPU load is under 56% while streaming to up to 5 squeezeboxes. Every once in a while it jumps to 100% for a short period of time. I've debated for a few weeks about putting one o...
