Fit-pc with ubuntu stock kernel

Hello, I would like to upgrade my fit-pc (fitpc2 linux version) to the latest ubuntu version (10.10). I understand that this is not supported by Compulab (latest official support as I understand it is 9.04 due to the graphics drivers). I wanted to try the updated gma500 driver that is provided by th...

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?

Denis, maybe Compulab can support both configurations (i.e. poulsbo drivers and embedded IEGD drivers) by supplying two meta-packages on your repositories (and the appropriate packages to work with either of the configurations)? Then, in the wiki give the pros and cons for each of the configurations...

linux-image package in the karmic repository

Hello, I just updated my fit-pc2 from the karmic repository and I received a new version of linux-image-2.6.31-34-fitpc2. I then typed dpkg -s linux-image-2.6.31-34-fitpc to get some details about this package. I will not output the whole thing, but here is the last paragraph about this package You ...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 display driver explanation

My first problem in finally fixed (the boot screen had those black patches until I logged in). The fix was simply to edit the xorg.conf file and putting in the "real" resolution of my screen (1680X1050). For some reason it was set to 1280X1024. In any case, this also allowd me to use Docky (before i...

What's new in the updated packages

Hello, Is there an official compulab source which describes in detail what's new in the updated packages in their repository (I use the karmic repo). Just did a system update and all packages seemed to have been updated. Upgraded all, but did so blindly. Would be very helpful if there was some offic...

Re: System hangs in gdm splash screen

Hi Denis, just saw the update from the fit-pc repository and updated.
Could you please update what's new and what bug fixes does this new driver provide? On a quite different subject, why isn't the fit-pc repository authenticated?

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 display driver explanation

I found on Launchpad that the "little icon" that appears after the screen flickers I was describing is a known bug in gnome-power-manager. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/423694 I am experiencing this bug on my fit-pc but not on my dell xps m1330 laptop which runs ...

Re: Support for Lucid?

Will the regular upgrade procedure be supported as well, or just fresh installs? (By support I mean a detailed explanation of the steps that need to be done for the whole upgrade process).

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 display driver explanation

Denis, thanks for the response. My resolution problems are not "that bad". I am using a 22" lcd monitor which can do 1600X1200. During the boot process I see the Ubuntu logo on about 2/3 of the screen (in the phase where Ubuntu is written in white over a brownish background) with two black bars 3-4 ...

Ubuntu 9.10 display driver explanation

Hi, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 and followed the detailed instructions on how to add the fit-pc PPA with the custom kernel and display driver. The package that installs the display driver is called xserver-xorg-video-poulsbo After some googling I found that the Karmic Ubuntu netbook remix edition (that ...
