Unable to enter BIOS setup - RTC & CMOS checksum bad
When I boot my fit-PC2, I see several warnings displayed very briefly before control passes to the OS boot code: ERROR 0271: Check date and time settings WARNING: 0251: System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used Despite holding down the F2 key, I am unable to enter BIOS to reset things. A...

Re: ssd performance?
FWIW, I replaced the SSD with a regular 2.5" 120GB HDD (Seagate ST9120823ASG 7200.2), and retested under Ubuntu. Got the exact same results as I did with the SSD: about 60MB/sec max (seq. read). This is same result as noted in this post with the CompuLab stock 2.5" 160GB SATA HDD. Strange that I did...

Re: ssd performance?
OK, got some XP. I will try and set it up and benchmark it.
Have you actually benchmarked any SSD's, just for reference?

OK, I am game, but I don't really have any Windoze licences. Which version of Windoze do you recommend, anyway?

Re: ssd performance?
After installing karmic I ran hdparm tests again. The average over 10 tests performed on a freshly booted quiescent system comes out to around 55 MB/sec. This is certainly disappointing considering the theoretical max disk throughput is 100 MB/sec. Anyone hazard a guess as to what the issue might be...

vfat filesystem suport removed?
I followed the karmic installation instructions here . After the step "Remove generic image and sources that are not fully compatible with fit-PC2" I noticed that when I inserted a USB flash-drive formatted as FAT32, a popup was displayed: "unknown filesystem type 'vfat'". Similar attempts to mount ...

Re: ssd performance?
I'm in the process of installing karmic, to see if any of the Fit-PC2 drivers make a difference.
I had installed Lucid initially on the SSD.

Re: ssd performance?
I just installed a 50GB OCZ Vertex 2 SATA II 2.5" SSD ( OCZSSD2-2VTX50G ) into my Fit-PC2. It uses MLC NAND with the SandForce 1200 controller. Early impressions are that it has made the machine only marginally faster. hdparm -t, also, reports only about 60MB/sec max IO throughput to the SSD. For th...
