The support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 9.10 will reach end of life on Friday, April 29, 2011. At that time, Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 9.10.

Thanks for the howto, but you might be better off in the Linux MInt Board (or the one for Ubuntu 10.10, as Mint 10 is based on this version rather than lucid).

Anyone still using 9.10 should consider an upgrade as this release has reached its End-of-Life date on May 1, 2011. I have never tried it because it will be a SLOW system... I am running from a CF Card connected via USB. After some optimization the system is fine and speedy. Has anyone tried running Linux from an SD card, using (say) a 1GB ram disk so as to dispense with the hard disk? Is this even a sane idea? ...

Since uname -r gives 2.6.31-34-fitpc2 wont the command above also remove the kernel and headers just installed?
When executed before the reboot (aka if you followed the instructions closely), you should not get the fitpc2 kernel.
