I tried Ubuntu, but not a performance comparison between them. They run on the same kernel and drivers.
I think it's safe to presume that there will be performance gain by running a lighter environment such as LXDE.

Fit-PC 2 as HTPC using Lubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot
Hello I just completed another how-to HTPC with Linux and XBMC for Ubuntu 11.10. I tried a lot of stuff to get 12.04 to work decent, but at this stage it's not possible without a lot of hacks and I like to keep it pretty simple. Heatsink will increase performance?
Hello
I have a Fit-PC 2 rev 1.4 which keeps it's high temperature (can be touched).
I recall something about the CPU speed is scaled according to heat. So my question then is; if I install some heat sink on my machine. Will I automatically get better performance?

Re: Won't boot after package update
You will need a bigger storage device, yes.
I did this when I changed my 320GB harddrive with a 120GB SSD in my fit-pc. Still runs today.

Re: Won't boot after package update
I can only ask again ... how do I backup my entire root file system, before applying updates, so that if the system becomes unbootable, I can restore the backup and get a state that is identical to that prior to the updates??? dd if=/dev/sda of=~/disk.img Change /dev/sda if your device is elsewhere.

Re: Linux performance and AMD
Windows is not an option for me. Need something reliable. How much performance difference is there?
Are the Linux drivers for HD 6320 open source or do you have an agreement with ATi to ensure sufficient performance in newer kernels?

Linux performance and AMD
Hello I'm interesting in upgrading to fit-pc3 (have v2 now) when it's ready. How are the drivers? I mean, ATi has always been a pain in Linux, will the radeons in fit-pc3 be fully supported in Linux? Are these drivers open source, so that they can be used for all future kernels? Does the device play...

Re: [Ubuntu 10.10] gma500 / poulsbo information
I tried this on fit-pc2 rev 1.4 and the drivers did work when using computlabs xorg.conf. After the psb upgrade I were unable to play any movie (both totem, vlc and mplayer). It complained on xvid mpeg4 version4 codec was missing, but it worked just fine before upgrade. I tried some stuff without an...
