Re: Windows XP set up aborts
Further to the post here about not having technical skills: I don't claim to be a computer scientist I have managed to set up an Ethernet with a router, a wifi router configured as a bridge, a soundbridge, five PCs for my kids, networked them all, control when they can get on and off the internet fr...

Re: Windows XP set up aborts
Duh. Isn't that why I'm here?
This is the only support I can find for this product.
Microsoft has orphaned it so the vendor is supposed to support it.
That isn't happening is it?

Re: Windows XP set up aborts
Nope. Didn't work So, any suggestions apart from throwing this in the trash? I should reveal here that I am a journalist and that this pc was sent to me by the company for review as part of a home theatre/entertainment set up story. So far it isn't going well. If you can't get XP to boot and you can...

I'm trying this to create an XP slipstream disk
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2325399,00.asp
we'll see if it works...if not I'll try and figure how to make an iso copy whatever that is...very complicated for me.

Re: Windows XP set up aborts
1) In my past experience, when you copy a corrupt disk onto a new CD you copy over the corrupted files. 2) Microsoft has set it up so making a disk to disk copy usually doesn't copy over all the necessary files so that the disk fails. 3) Isn't it illegal? 4) I have asked for a new XP disk but how is...

Re: Windows XP set up aborts
1) The DVD has its own power supply so that's not an issue. It's an older Cedyne Double Layer DVD burner and it appears to be working just fine. 2) I live in Canada. How are we supposed to buy from Israel? I acquired this box from the manufacturer. You'd think there'd be better support even though t...

Re: Windows XP set up aborts

However, it hung up during the blue screen stage of loading essentials. The message is The file AIC78xx.sys is corrupted. Please press any key...

Re: Windows XP set up aborts
You may run Windows installation (with keyboard attached, it is likely to keep functioning during installation) and choose to partition and format the hard disk during installation. not sure what you mean by this but I've found my optical drive and it does have a USB 2.0 port as well so all is good...
