Re: Enabling wireless using command line

Are you saying you were not able to connect to your network using NetworkManager in the Gnome GUI? This works fine for me - I'm even getting a 150Mbps connection on my 802.11n network. Just to be clear, you won't be able to get the command line tools to work unless you recompile the RT2860STA driver...

Re: Enabling wireless using command line

Frustrating, isn't it? I spent a lot of time scratching my head over this too. As I understand it the RT2860STA module can be compiled to support either the GUI network manager OR the command line tools. The one provided in the Fit-PC repositories is compiled for GUI network manager support. The com...

Re: DVB-T HD receiver

Hi Roger, I think the answer is it depends upon the software you are using. Certainly the Fit-PC2 will be powerful enough to record programmes using that hardware, but playback will depend upon your system. I use Ubuntu 9.10 with the latest Mythtv. Mythtv doesn't currently support the accelerated vi...

Re: 802.11n not working with 9.10

Sorted. I followed the instructions on this site: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p= ... stcount=57

My connection is now syncing at 72Mbps. Not astounding, but just enough to keep TV streaming without pauses.

Re: 802.11n not working with 9.10

Ah. Now I'm confused, because I was getting connection rates of greater than 54Mbps when I was using Ubuntu 8.04 on the same hardware. Reading around, I've found articles that reference 802.11n hardware with only one antenna, but those being limited to 85Mbps because of that. Could it be that the Fi...

Re: 802.11n not working with 9.10

Yes, I followed those instructions to the letter. It gave me a working system, but I'm only getting 802.11g speeds and I can't connect to my router in 802.11n-only mode. Otherwise the system is fine.

802.11n not working with 9.10

Hi, I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to the latest 9.10. Most things are fine, but I've realised that the wifi is no longer supporting 802.11n. I have a mixed 802.11b/g/n network which the Fit-PC2 is connecting to in 802.11g mode. If I switch the router to 802.11n only then the Fit-PC2 won't con...

Video - green line

Hi, I've just installed Ubuntu 9.10 following the guide posted on this board. All is fine expect for video playback which suffers from two problems. First, there is a bold green line at the bottom of the picture. Second, probably related, the picture does not fill the screen; there are black bars ab...

Re: WIFI disconnecting apparently at random

Hi ebrinton, Do you have a wired ethernet connection when you are performing your tests? I experienced similar disconnections after installing Windows on my Fit-PC2. The connection was very slow and would disconnect periodically. Choosing Repair from the wireless menu (I was using the Windows zero c...

Re: hdtv recording with mythbackend and fit-pc2?

My system is running two USB tuners and the backend, streaming the captured data to an NFS drive on my NAS. This copes fine with recording 2 or 3 streams at once, even though the NFS drive is not that quick. Recording two streams and playing one stream is okay, although the system does stutter when ...
