I would use something that won't make cpu work 100% for file transfer(ex. ftp) and create a ram disk (~600mb maybe?) on fit-pc2 and read out the file from the other machine to estimate the NIC speed. Please do. I am also working on getting Logitech harmony 880 remote control working for this box by using concordance and congruity but the driver installation was tricky for me.

Another possible bottleneck is the disk access time(in terms of disc rotation speed). In my experience the data channel interface(IDE/SATA) is never the bottleneck, even for the 3.5" drives with less or equal 7200rpm.
