Disabling C-states in the BIOS did solve the LAN freezing problem for me (Ubuntu 9.04 here)! Thanks a lot, I've been testing various fixes for the r8169 driver and the kernel (even compiling the r8168 driver from Realtek), with no luck. Well, if you use the internal SATA port with a SATA-eSATA cable you CAN connect to external devices (with independent power supply).

I'm buying a home server, and won't need a built in disk - I will have external disks for all my needs.
I can tell you though that I *am* buying this the *second* it becomes available. I've been looking for a fanless Atom or Nano-based replacement for my NSLU2 for a long time.
